Minarets

Minarets at University of Tampa

In 1891 Henry Plant, a railroad mogul, built the Tampa Bay Hotel.  He wanted a place for his railroad guests to stay.  The hotel was furnished with treasures he and his wife collected on their trips around the world.  Teddy Roosevelt, Babe Ruth, Sarah Bernhardt were known to stay at this magnificent hotel.

Gulfport Art Walk

On the first Friday and third Saturday of each month, Gulfport, FL hosts an Art Walk.  Artists come from all over to sell their creations.  Homemade soaps, candles, jewelry and even dog biscuits are just a few of the items you will find.

The stores and restaurants along Beach Boulevard and Shore Boulevard are open, so plan to spend a few hours in Gulfport and listen to the variety of musicians playing along the street.  Stop by the Industrial Arts Center for the glass blowing demonstrations and see how a glob of hot molten glass can be transformed into a colorful crystal ornament.

On our visit, the sunset was absolutely beautiful.  As we were busy taking photographs of the sun as it set upon the Gulf, we were amazed when we turn around and saw the incredible moon.

Key Vista Nature Park

If you are looking for a great place to take in nature, go to Key Vista Nature Park.  You can take a walk through the beautiful woods and it will lead you to a board walk along the Gulf of Mexico.  The three story tower will get you closer to the amazing eagles and other birds.  We saw an owl sleeping in a nest.  Its really a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors.
